Welcome to a “New School” Designer Diary. Instead of looking back on garments previously worn by royals, we are looking forward to what we would like to see them wear in the future. The Carolina Herrera Ready to Wear Fall/Winter 2022-2023 debuted a couple of months ago, and there were many designs we felt fit certain royals to a “T”. Take a look and let us know if you agree!
Fast Note: In 2018, Carolina Herrera retired and handed over the management of her design house to Wes Gordon. Gordon previously worked for both Tom Ford and Oscar de la Renta. For the most part he has carried on producing elegant and timeless designs at Herrara, adding his own twists here and there. Ms. Herrera herself is still very alive and always shows up at the shows to keep an eye on the brand.
This dramatic yet sleek dress would look great on our soigne Spanish Queen Letizia.
Potential Royal Lady Pantsuit alert! A swath of color wrapped around the waist and trailing behind like a train? Who else but Queen Maxima?
This is Princessy Perfect, with just a touch of swish. We can see Princess Leonor stepping out in this at the Princess of Asturias Awards, and then nailing her speech.
Crown Princess Mary has the confidence and the love of fashion to don this for one of the many gala events she graces.
Princess Elisabeth has a lot of occasions where she is called on to be all business, and this is youthful *and* serious. Ok, maybe add a few inches to the length to amp up the gravitas.
I mean, really? Princess Mabel, natch!
Ah, the Duchess of Cambridge, that lover of all things blue. She doesn’t wear much yellow, or yellow-orange, but we can dream, can’t we?
Crown Princess Victoria loves her trouser suits and we would just love to see her ditch the neck bows – c’mon Vick! Zhuzz it up with this blouse!
Amalia, Princess of Orange, has a presence, just like her grandmother. This would only enhance it.
We know Princess Ingrid Alexandra has a sense of fun, and this would play into that side of her personality.
She loves a big princess skirt, and she loves pink. We would like to see Princess Madeleine break out of her floral streak and pick something like this combination.
