Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Good Monday to all of you. If you are looking for coverage of Sunday’s Service of Remembrance, we had an Open Post this weekend. We very much missed the presence of Her Majesty, who experienced a back sprain and did not attend the event.

Last week was packed with activity, and we get a brief respite today before the Italian State Visit to Spain starts Tuesday. Look for (another) Open Post tomorrow!

Sir Elton receives a medal, King Felipe and Queen Letizia make speeches, and the British royals attend Remembrance events. See it all here.

Denmark

After her stellar turn Queening during last week’s German State Visit, Daisy is spending a few days resting and recuperating in the Bavarian Alps. At home, a certain Crown Princess has remained very busy. For the annual get-together at the University of Copenhagen, Mary wore her RED Valentino dress with Jimmy Choo pumps.

I found this enchanting. A peek into the preparation for the return dinner hosted by Daisy at the Deutsches Historisches Museum in Berlin. I am sure my invitation was just simply lost somewhere in the transatlantic post!

Britain

I mentioned this on Bits last but in all the excitement I wanted to make sure everyone got a chance to see it. The Countess of Wessex attended the Queen’s Awards For Enterprise at Windsor. I know I complain about the length and volume of her dresses, but this Roksanda dress is streamlined and flattering.

Let’s not overlook the other Classic Princesses – and Duke – who also attended!

AS IF there wasn’t enough going on, The Cheltenham Race “Meeting” was held over three days last week. Zara, of course, has been involved every day of the event. I loved both this new LK Bennett coat and handbag that she wore on the second day. Also, if she could give Camilla tips on where to find these lovely Fairfax & Favor boots I would not object. Love the unusual headband/hair arrangement, too.

Uganda

Queen Best Kemigisa Akiiki is the Queen Mother of the Tooro Kingdom, the Bantu Kingdom located in Uganda. She is heavily involved with issues that affect women and girls in her own kingdom, and throughout Africa. Recently she hosted the Belgian Ambassador to discuss how her organization can partner with others to further her agenda. That dress caught my eye immediately. It is a stunning and refreshing pink in my gray world.

Luxembourg

Hereditary Grand Duke Guilliame turned forty and a couple of new portraits were released in honor of the big event. He is a brave birthday boy to pose with his scene-stealing son ; ). Certainly, the Grand Duke and Duchess seem to agree that their grandson is a fountain of charisma. In the photo with the nuclear family, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie is wearing a new-to-us Natan dress. royal lady pantsuit.

Sweden

King Carl Gustaf looked chuffed to present Princess Christina the King’s Medal for her “great non-profit community efforts in several areas”. She looked equally pleased (and emotional) to receive it. The King previously only presented to Prince Bertil for his “life’s work in the Kingdom service”.

The Crown Princess and Prince Daniel attended the 5th edition of Generation Pep’s “Pep Forum” in Stockholm. Victoria wore her Malene Birger black jacket over her H&M Erdem blouse and House of Dagmar trousers. (Thank you to the folks at UFONoMore).

Victoria also appeared at the Solemn Gathering of the Royal Swedish Academy of Military Science in Stockholm, wearing her Camilla Thulin long-sleeved velvet gown.

Spain

Yes, we are being blessed with another State Visit, this one from Italy to Spain on November 16th and 17th. According to the agenda, and confirmed by Casa Real, there will be a gala dinner on Tuesday. That means tiara alert!
