Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Winter marches on and so do we! If you missed our party for Her Majesty on Sunday be sure to swing by and see some great photos from Hofdames and Baguettes.

Picadilly Circus features the Queen, big and bold as she should be. See it here.

Fifty for the Fiftieth – Top Ten Daytime

Baguettes, Hofdames, and Hofdudes have spoken and Crown Princess Mary’s top ten daytime looks are in the books. You loved the Duchess of Cambridge in blue and white, but it’s black and white that rules for Mary.

Netherlands

Princess Beatrix, Princess Laurentien, and Prince Constantijn attended the opening of the Holland Dance Festival in theater Amare last week. Laurentien has been on a roll with the gold glitter lately, but you can’t deny it’s all very festive and very visible. I am also mesmerized by the size of those hoop earrings. It’s always great to see Beatrix, though, even for a relatively low-key appearance.

Between birthdays and anniversaries in other countries, we haven’t paid much attention to King Philippe and Queen Mathilde lately. Let’s make that right and take a look at their four-day visit to the Sultanate of Oman and the United Arab Emirates. We’re going last day to first, only because that’s how I pulled the photos.

The last day featured a visit to the Dubai World Expo. The Queen wore a repeat Natan and Fabienne Delvigne chapeau. It all works for me since this gauzy dress has always been one of my favorites.

The couple flew to the UAE and were met officially at the Abu Dhabi airport. I’m not going to dwell on this Natan ensemble, except to say that the Queen picked the right color to coordinate with her host.

In Oman, the royal couple visited the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Muscat, Oman. The Queen wore a deep red Anita Dongre dress.

For the official welcoming at the Al Alam Palace in Muscat, Oman, the Queen wore a print Natan dress, and I may be hallucinating but I do believe that those Natan belt buckles are getting even larger.

The royal couple arrived in Oman and were greeted by the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth, Sayyid Theyazin Haitham Al Said. The Queen wore a print Johanna Ortiz dress with a gathered neckline. I don’t want to be negative, but this is not my favorite silhouette for her – so I’ll focus on her bracelet which I covet fiercely. You can get all the trip details over at the ever-reliable Modekoningin Mathilde.

Sweden

Crown Princess Victoria also appeared at Dubai’s World Expo, albeit digitally. She opened the Swedish life science program, which is held during health week. I really do love this crisp Andiata blazer on her.

Denmark

We still have a lot to talk about in Denmark, because they do these milestone birthdays right. We got a close-up of the Jenny Packham gown from the birthday photos last week, there was a very poignant interview from the Crown Princess, and the entire family attended the “Mary at 50, we celebrate Denmark’s Crown Princess” birthday show in Kastrup, Denmark. You can see a breakdown of the family’s outfits at UFONoMore (there’s a royal re-wear in there!)

Finally, the children surprised the Crown Princess with an appearance in the production, talking about how Mary prepares for public appearances. Of course, it’s all in Danish, but even so, the Hofdames decided Christian has Fred’s voice.
