Hofdame Bits and Bobs

A good Valentine’s Day to those of you who celebrate the holiday! We had a party for Princess Astrid’s ninetieth birthday this weekend – you still have a chance to celebrate here if you feel inclined.

Do you like winter boots and Classic Princesses? Well, we have the Bits for you this week. Read on!

The merchandise for the Queen’s jubilee has been unveiled. See it (and other things, including appearances by Sophie, Letizia, and Rania) here.

Fifty for the Fiftieth

The top ten coats of Crown Princess Mary are in the books. I don’t know that there was a theme, except that “Mary Can Really, Really Wear a Coat”. Prints, tweeds, solid colors: give the woman a coat and she’ll make it work.

Belgium

Have we had our first yearly appearance of Queen Mathilde’s thigh-high boots? I think so. She paired them with her Natan plaid coat (or dress, depending on the description you read) and a much-needed umbrella for a visit to the Flemish helpline 1712.

The Netherlands

This is like a Broadway production! The Classic Princesses appeared in public for a limited engagement as the “Print Twins”. The duo attended the 50th anniversary of Introdans, to watch a performance dedicated to the Princess Beatrix Muscle Foundation.

Denmark

More boots! In this case, they are on the elegant Classic Princess Benedikte, who visited the exhibition to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the royal yacht Dannebrog. Did I know I wanted a fur-trimmed poncho? No, I didn’t, not until now.

Sweden

Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel have had a series of engagements. Most of the photos are from the waist up, so we can’t report much sartorially. However, this bold black and white jacket did catch my eye.

Tiaras in the Wild

Here’s a twofer for you: a very pretty, dainty tiara in the wild (Houston – can you get wilder than that?) and an interesting Jenny Packham wedding gown.

Final note: Researching designers related to Norway, I came across this article on “Dior in Norway”. If you would like to take a few minutes just to look at beautiful clothes, click here.
