Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Good Monday morning all! It is now officially spring in my corner of the world, so hopefully flowers and sunshine will follow soon. In the meantime, let’s see how much sunshine the royals can bring to our world. We’ve been very British-heavy on our daily coverage, so we’ll turn our attention to a few other royal houses here. Conversation about the Cambridge Caribbean tour can be found on our Open Post.

Look back at Zara’s stellar turn at Cheltenham, Queen Max’s week of colors, and the Norways going out and about here.

Spam the Ruby Earrings Results

The red gem piques your interest for sure! Here are the results from last week’s poll. We will spam our next gem – sapphires – either this week or next week, depending on how much royal news pops up. Stay tuned!

She disappeared from our radar for a long time, so it’s nice to see Princess Claire pop up here. She and Prince Laurent represented King Albert and Queen Paola during the annual gala concert of the Queen Paola Foundation at the Plaza Hotel in Brussels. Can’t see too much detail of this ensemble, but what I see I like.

There’s also a state visit going on! The King and Queen greeted the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen and First Lady Doris Schmidauer at the Royal Palace this morning. Queen Mathilde is wearing Natan couture and carrying a clutch she’s had since 2002. Someone on Twitter described the ensemble as a “Pink Inspector Gadget” and now I can’t see anything else. However, there is an official dinner tonight, so we’ll keep an eye out for any tiara madness. The Duchess of Brabant is at Oxford right now, but she was spotted back in the country with her father just last week. We may get a glimpse of her in a tiara. We’ll see!

Sweden

Crown Princess Victoria popped up at a ceremony of the Swedish National Union of Students, commemorating their 100th anniversary. She wore an H&M Conscious skirt, which is new. She added Vesna W top, Jimmy Choo black satin clutch, and finished everything off with Gianvito Rossi fuchsia metallic pumps.

But be still my hair-bling loving heart, the stars in her bun are the part of her ensemble that grabbed my attention. More of this, please. I am not quite so crazy about the Shourouk earrings, but they are definitely a bold pairing.

Spain

The King and Queen attended the religious ceremony in memory of the fishermen of “Villa De Pitanxo” in Marin, Pontevedra, Spain. Twenty-one fishermen died on the Galician fishing vessel ‘Villa de Pitanxo’, which sunk on February 15. It’s definitely not an occasion for extended fashion commentary, but Queen’s Carolina Herrera bow sleeve sheath and clutch were appropriate for the occasion.

Jordan

The Crown Prince attended the first National Youth Dialogue Conference. It’s always good to see the handsome Prince, particularly when he is reaching out to his peers.

Bhutan

The tiny Bhutanese Prince Ugyen turns two. Insert obligatory “where does the time go” comment here.

Luxembourg

The glamorous yet somehow down-to-earth Princess Claire turned 37. The Cour released two new photos, and I am loving the modern princess here. Happy birthday!

Netherlands

Princess Margriet and her handsome husband Pieter paid a trip to a long track skating rink and were cute as buttons.

Tiaras in the Wild

In this case, tiaras in the PAST, not so much the wild. I hadn’t heard the whole saga of this Strawberry Leaf tiara, but it had a wild jewel journey for sure. Read about the cursed tiara here. It’s pictured on Princess Alice, second daughter of Queen Victoria, below.
