Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Hello! Happy exactly mid-August! There is not a lot going on in the royal world but we will make the best of what we do have.

Getty offers glimpses of a few British royals through car windows as they headed to church at Crathie Kirk in Scotland. There are lots of photos of the Spanish royals on their working vacation last week. Let’s hope Felipe and his family have headed off to a more private escape this week. See it all here.

Jordan

Let’s pop down to Jordan, where the Queen visited the  LIVINC incubator in Zai. This is a boutique farm where artisans and other creative people can live and work and establish their crafts. The Queen wore a bright yellow blouse which was visible and cool-looking at the same time.

She was also spotted at Beit Khairat Souf, a historical and cultural heritage home in Jerash, Jordan. She met with representatives and beneficiaries of Alnoor Almouben Association, the women-led organization that runs the site. She wore the Gabriela Hearst Wytte High-Waist A-Line Ankle-Length Linen Skirt and a white blouse. Check out the Queen Rania’s Closet for more information on these events.

Japan

Remember our feature on summer’s solid trouser suits a few weeks ago? The Japanese Imperial family has appeared in a series of summer solid dress suits, sort of a bookend for that previous post. Several senior female royals attended the Florence Nightingale Medal Ceremony, and we have a bit of a pastel rainbow going on.

Princess Hisako

First up, we have the Empress in head-to-toe white.

At the same event, we have Princess Hisako jazzing up the place a bit in lavender.

Princess Tomohito represented the pale pink/peach end of the spectrum.

Crown Princess Kiko wore the very palest of greens, a very watery celery color.

Princess Hisako continued the pastel theme with a slightly stronger hue at the “Tokyo Comprehensive Art Exhibition for Persons with Disabilities”. It is the 37th anniversary of this event and one that is close to the Princess’s heart.

Our final entry in the Japanese pastel Olympics is Princess Tsuguko, who attended the 2022 Inter-High School Archery Competition in Marugame City, Kagawa Prefecture. This hat is just a little different for a member of the Japanese Imperial family, and it’s a welcome sight.

Belgium

Oh, Princess Delphine. When royals are all on vacation and life is dull, you brighten it up! She popped over to the Netherlands to attend an art festival, wearing a blouse made from the fabric of her own distinctive design. She added adding her domino necklace and a pair of shoes that I couldn’t take my eyes off of.

Way Back Machine

Are you in the mood for something more conventionally glamorous? Let’s just drink in Queen Sirikit of Thailand as a vision in white here. She turned 90 years old on the 12th of this month. Check out that necklace. Yes, it’s the Thailand Fringe tiara, converted to necklace form.

And a big thank you to Royal Warrant, for reminding us of this link! There are some great and glamorous outfits there. You can also refresh your memory about the Queen in our Designer Diary post, “Designer Diaries – Queen Sirikit and Balmain”.
