We are skipping Getty this week because there’s nothing much new in their offerings – but no worries. We make our own fun around here.
The first royals back to work after the summer holidays are always the Danes (if you noticed, Princess Benedikte never left). Crown Princess Mary is the Patron of the Odense Flower Festival and this event usually marks her return to duties. This year’s theme is “The Adventurous Garden” and the Princess went literal with her Erdem floral print (she wore it previously earlier in the summer).
The Queen’s summer holiday is always at least partially public, so she has popped up at events here and there. I am thrilled to tell you that she continues with her summer of pink. She wore a hot neon number for a visit to the Henri Martin Museum In Cahors, where she took in her own paintings. Yes, the bodice on this is a bit wonky, but she did her best to distract us with Daisy earrings in her ears and a funky rooster brooch.
Rokskilde is celebrating the 1,000th anniversary of the bishop’s seat – quite a milestone that required the presence of a Queen. Daisy wore a high-impact floral dress and one of her beanie hats. I can’t tell from this distance, but if that’s Queen Alexandrine’s sapphire brooch, it’s a perfect choice.
After their celebrations in June, we haven’t heard or seen too much of the Norwegian royals this summer. It was particularly nice to see this photo released for Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s 49th birthday. The Princess is wearing a summery yellow Rachel Gilbert dress.
Upcoming Tiara Events
(H/T to Tiara Mania for the heads up here). Here are our upcoming tiara events (and one potential event). Happy September! It’s particularly exciting because three of our tiara-happy royal houses are involved: Sweden, Netherlands, and Denmark. You’ll note that three of the September events occur over the weekend, but never fear, there will be Open Posts for your viewing and chatting pleasure.

A Highlander’s dress from a state visit by George IV? Yes, I am interested in that! It’s in great shape, right?
On this day in 1822, George IV landed at Leith to commence his state visit. Among the #tartan costumes on display was this suit of Highland dress, worn by Malcolm McCallum. He was 1 of 20 pipers who traveled from Glenlyon to Edinburgh to play for the King. Images @NtlMuseumsScot pic.twitter.com/1arpL0A7Oy

We use so many of her Tweets here that we should direct you to Madame Gilfurt’s website. She has lots of good stuff there, including links to her books.
Say what you will about the Duchess of Windsor, the woman knew how to dress.

I *love* a groom whose splendor gives the bride a run for her money. Behold Gustav III on his wedding day.
