Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Good news! Our Getty embed issue appears to be resolved. With that cheerful start, let’s jump into the week.

News Round-up

This week’s Getty line-up is heavy on photos of actors who portray royals on The Crown red carpet. A few real life royals are featured, including Crown Princess Mary and Princess Josephine at the Hubertus Hunt. See here.

For all the comings and goings of the British royal family this last, busy week, see here.

Japan

The Emperor and Empress visited Hyogo Prefecture and attended an annual sea festival, designed to promote the Japanese fishing industry. This is an annual event, but like many others was interrupted during the pandemic. I thought the Empress’ royal lady pantsuit was a particularly fresh color – and since we don’t see her in trousers often it’s also a nice change.

Denmark

Queen Margrethe’s belated Golden Jubilee celebrations continued, this time with a luncheon at Copenhagen City Hall. Given all the brouhaha the past few months, it was good to see all the senior royals in attendance. I know we have nicknamed the Yeti, but I do think we need to come up with a name for this wrap, too. One knows who is Queen at all times.

The supporting players all looked very nice: Princess Marie is chic in black and white Emporio Armani, Princess Benedikte wore pieces from Wichmann Couture , and Crown Princess Mary was in her Harris Wharf coat over an Iris & Ink polka dot dress.

Luxembourg

We are headed into a long, artistic stretch in Luxembourg as the 8th Luxembourg Art Week begins. The Grand Duchess opened the festivities by donning some military-inspired Armani for her stroll through the fair. She and the Minister of Culture also presented the first National Art Prize.

The Grand Duchess, Hereditary Grand Duchess and Princess Amalia made a girls outing of it as they attended the 61st Bazaar International de Luxembourg held at LuxExpo The Box. The Grand Duchess is a long time patron of this event. I don’t have a designer ID on this, but I thought Stephanie’s blouse was exceptionally flattering.

The cultural whirlwind continued as The Grand Duke and Duchess Maria Teresa attended the Salon 2022 du CA. MT is a patron of the organization. She wore a Maison Rabih Kayrouz jacket in a granite lurex fabric. It features a wrap front and side slits.
