Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Good morning everyone! It’s the week of Thanksgiving in the U.S., so the Hofdames will be taking a break from Thursday, November 24 to Monday, November 28. However, pop in if you feel like it on Thursday and Friday. Our own Baguette Elizabeth Davies has written a fun start-up post for her coronation series, which will be featured one of those days. There may something intriguing from the mixed-up files of our LiL, too.

The Open Post for the much-anticipated South African state visit to the U.K. will be published tomorrow at 6:00 a.m. ET, mid-day for those in Europe.

The Brits going about their daily business, including Princess Anne’s visit to the Falklands can all be found here.

Belgium

I know we have a lot of avid readers here, so you will be happy to know the Queen kicked off “Reading Week” in Belgium. Colorful Tils showed up, wearing her Zara coat over a leather (possibly pleather) skirt in green. You can get up close and personal with her accessories over at Garde Robe Royale.

Britain

We are becoming brooch central around here. Honestly, I would love to have a volunteer to for the Brooch Beat since it is not my strong suit. Don’t all raise your hands at once ; ). Anyway, the Queen Consort debuted new-to-me brooches at two recent events.

Camilla hosted a reception for the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition 2022 winners at Buckingham Palace. She sported a bar brooch which is on the smaller side but packs a bit of a punch.

The Queen attended an event focused on her other great love, horse racing. She appeared at Ascot’s November Racing Weekend wearing her much repeated fur-fuzz hat and sapphire, ruby and diamond ‘Minoru’ brooch. Fun Fact from Camilla Regina Britannia: “Minoru was King Edward VII’s horse. He won the Epsom Derby in 1909. The first monarch to achieve this feat.”

Sarah Ferguson posted a photo for World Children’s Day, celebrating the Anti-Slavery Collective started by Princess Eugenie. Everyone looks great, and I wonder if we have a new bracelet tradition?

The Netherlands

As she has in the past, Princess Margriet traveled to New York City to attend the Netherlands-American Foundation ball. She was accompanied by her husband, Pieter, and her son Floris, and daughter-in-law Aimee. She also took the Dutch Laurel Wreath tiara along, which is an excellent Classic Princess move.

Luxembourg

The Luxies have been busy busy busy so we are just hitting the highlights here. Stephanie appeared at the European Convention Center to host an orientation for those settling into Luxembourg society. Her burgundy shirt is by Natan.

There isn’t much to say sartorially about National Tree Day where Prince Charles appeared with mom and dad. Well, other than Charles’s little boots are just killing it. Legend.

The Grand Duchess was a speaker at the 2022 European Micro-Finance Award ceremony. She’s been leaning heavily into the printed blazers these days. This one is by Dries van Noten.

Spain

For those of you who haven’t been popping back into Bits during the week, Iselen has been live blogging some fabulous looks from Queen Letizia. The Queen debuted new-to-us vintage earrings and re-wore some fabulous clothes during the official trip to Zagreb last week.
