Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Winter winter winter! If it’s as grey and gloomy near you as it is for me, hopefully today’s Bits, which contains a glimpse of the summery land down-under and some red holiday gear. is a little picker upper for you. If you are in the southern hemisphere, ignore all this whining and enjoy your sunshine.

Brooch Round Up

The funeral of King Constantine II was not the place for much sartorial comment since it was a somber event, like all funerals. However, many brooches were worn, and these deserve a look.

Queen Silvia wore a silver and gold brooch in an abstract design. Queen Margrethe wore her heart shaped brooch (with a cipher inside). This is a piece which she has worn at many funerals, most notably at her husband Prince Henrik’s memorial.

Queen Mathilde wore her diamond butterfly brooch, which debuted back in 2014. It looks lovely and really pops against the black. Queen Letizia honored the King by wearing the grey pearl brooch from the Joyas de Pasar collection. Both brooches were also worn at Queen Elizabeth’s funeral last autumn.

Sweden

Prince Daniel, Princess Sofia and Prince Carl Philip attended a sports gala (the Idrottsgalan 2023). The Princess wore a Dorothee Schumacher ensemble, which I first thought was a long gown but UFO NoMore has identified it as a trouser and jacket ensemble.

Liechtenstein

We don’t often highlight the Liechtenstein family here but they do have their yearly events. Prince Hans-Adam, Hereditary Prince Alois and Hereditary Princess Sophie  hosted a reception for the New Year, and the Princess wore a festive, holiday red for the occasion.

Britain

Mike and Zara are still vacationing down under. Last week we highlighted Zara’s fashion but this week it’s all Mike.

Brunei

Ah, here are tiaras in the wild for sure! There was a a wedding in Brunei last week and you know what that means: massive bling and colorful reception dresses (see our post on Brunei weddings here for a refresher).
