Hofdame Bits and Bobs

Do you need a dose of sparkle this week? This Bits is for you – let’s jump right in!

Britain

Coronation plans have been published, and things are taking shape.

  • May 6 morning – King’s procession to Westminster Abbey, where the coronation ceremony will be held. It will take approximately 1 hour and 3,000 guests will be invited. The ceremony will be conducted by the Most Rev. Justin Welby, the archbishop of Canterbury. The coronation procession will return to Buckingham Palace, followed by a balcony appearance
  • May 7 day -“Big Lunch” events to occur throughout the country. There will be a celebratory concert later in the day/early evening on the East Lawn of Windsor Castle.
  • May 8 all day – “The Big Help Out” – the country will celebrate a bank holiday with opportunities for volunteer activities

If you would like a little throwback coronation history this will be right up your alley.

Norway

Happy nineteenth birthday to a Queen-in-Training, Princess Ingrid Alexandra! She has brought delight to our royal-watching ways already. Her eighteenth birthday party was a highlight of our 2022 royal watching year. Official photos were released, one a standard portrait and one a parachuting-action shot.

Speaking of the Princess, I round this information on her bracelet fascinating. You can never have too many art deco bracelets in my opinion.

You can also never see Queen Maud’s coronation gown too many times. I promised you sparkle and there it is in all its glory.

Japan

I thought Princess Takamado’s (Hisako)’s fresh blue and white combination might bring some light into your lives!

Sweden

The Swedish Golden Jubilee year has commenced! Not only has King Carl Gustaf represented for fifty years, he is the longest-serving monarch in Swedish history. The inaugural event (Sverige Middag) was a musical interlude and dinner to honor Swedish citizens who have contributed to the country’s culture, business, sports, and governmental affairs.

The Queen and the Crown Princess were both in rewears, although I don’t remember Victoria’s dress well. It’s by H & M x Giambattista Valli. Princess Sofia is wearing a new gown from Andiata. NewMyRoyals has some lovely photos.

And you know I can’t leave without pointing out HAIR BLING.
