Royal life is getting back into the swing, just in time for everyone to go on vacation (if you are US based) or to be off holidaying, if you are European or Canadian. Fortunately, this week on the blog we are filling in with Olympic royal history, so there will be plenty of royal content for us. Let’s see what’s going on out there in this transitional period.

The UK Royal Foundation made a big gift to frontline workers, Leti and Felipe never stop working, and there is a charming look back at some of our classic royals at the age of seven. See it all here.
Britain
The 94 year old Queen shows that she is not afraid of progress. She paid a virtual visit to the Commonwealth Office to discuss COVID-19 responses, and participated in a virtual portrait unveiling, to boot.
Spain
Felipe and Letizia attended the Saint James Day events, and I love this dress of Letizia’s so much I want to see it on every royal. It might be my elusive universally flattering dress. I admit my perception is skewed because it’s a style seen often in my heyday, the eighties and early nineties. The dress is by Pedro del Hiero, and the shoes by Carolina Herrera. Perfectly classic Letizia.
Jordan
Rania has continued her streak of cute shirts, and this blue and white captured my fancy in particular. It’s the Tibi Vivian Stripe shirt, and the beautiful Queen Rania’s Style blog has some terrific photos of Rania’s visit to Aljoun Forest.
Denmark
There was some sad news out of Denmark late last week. Prince Joachim suffered a stroke on July 24th. He had surgery to remove a brain clot. He is currently stable and hospitalized in France. Last week, Joachim and family released a photo for Prince Felix’s 18th birthday. It was nice to see the whole family, and Princess Alexandra, looking so well. Continued good thoughts to them as they navigate his recuperation.
It’s good to see both Benedikte and Daisy together again. The Danish girls and their floral dresses are always a spirit picker-upper. I am sure the Queen appreciates the support of her sister during her son’s illness. I’m sending Handbag recuperation wishes to Joachim, and strength to the entire family.
Virtual Vacationing with the Royals
It’s been fun watching Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia extol the virtues of staycationing in Sweden. The boys are very cute, and Sofia is beautiful as always, however it’s Carl Philip stopping the entire family in their tracks to set up the perfect shot that amuses me. It takes me back to when my dad used to do the same thing.
