Hofdame Bits and Bobs

We’re all action, no small talk around here. Let’s get ready, set, and GO.

Crown Prince Frederik attended the 109th Tour de France route presentation, Queen Letizia and King Felipe honored Angela Merkel, and there is a reception scheduled to celebrate the Princess Diana statue. See it all here.

Handbag Instagram

There was lots of blue on the Handbag Instagram last week: HerMaj, Prince Christian, and Queen Mathilde were all featured and yes, all were wearing some shade of the color.

Tiaras, Coiffures, and Veils

The results are in, and Crown Princess Victoria is the winner of the Tiaras, Coiffures, and Veils game. Baguettes chose Princess Eugenie as the favorite in the “The Road Less Traveled” category. Two beautiful women with two different looks. Thank you all for your enthusiastic participation. The wedding polls always draw in support on incredible levels.

Sweden

For the Crown Princess’s tour to Rome, check out our Open Post. Back home in Sweden, Queen Silvia presented the 2020 Polar Music Prize to Russian opera singer Anna Netrebko. For those who liked the light purple and green combination on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Silvia has combined it all into one ensemble for you. Albeit she chose a much deeper purple shade, but it works.

Monaco

This mother-daughter act attended the Prince Pierre Foundation Awards and lots of basic black ruled. Charlotte’s dress is definitely a Chanel (note the belt) but I am not sure if Princess Caroline followed suit, designer-wise. My first instinct is that they should switch dresses but it’s probably just me.

Caroline was also spotted supporting her brother at the 52nd Monaco Flower Contest. The flowered skirt is by Dries Van Noten, a designer I don’t often associate with the Princess. It’s very feminine, and you can see more of it at New My Royals.

Spain

The King and Queen of Spain the attended Planeta Novel Prize at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya. Letizia repeated her Varela Byzantine dress, which has been compared to both costumes from the Game of Thrones, or a cathedral. It’s a beautifully embroidered dress, stitched with metallic thread. It must sparkle mightily in person.

We’re reaching back a bit to embrace this sister act. Queen Sofia and Princess Irene attended a concert of ‘Reina Sofia’, performed at the Higher School Of Music, Royal Theatre. The Queen re-wore her Oscar de la Renta blouse and I don’t know what Irene is wearing, but she’s just a charmer in every way.

The Queen also attended the Social Mapfre Awards at Casino De Madrid, wearing a very cheerful Escada jacket.

Actually, she’s been pulling A LOT of Escada from her closet. This suit also made an appearance at a meeting of the International Circle, at the Queen Sofia School of Music.

Britain

The Queen has canceled a planned trip to Northern Ireland after doctors counseled that she should take a few days of rest. Our best wishes to HerMaj, who is said to be disappointed by the cancellation but in good spirits.

Business and investment leaders from around the world met at Windsor Castle for the Global Investment Summit. The Queen was the host (wearing the Cullinan V, no less), the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and The Duke and the Gloucesters were also in attendance.

What can I say? My Tim Taylor crush runs unabated, but it’s really Lady Helen and her coat dress you should pay attention to here.

Belgium

Queen Mathilde has been VERY busy, and if you want the lowdown on all her recent activities, ModekoninginMathilde has you completely covered. I was fascinated by this Natan she wore to the Opening of the 28th Europalia 2021. This year’s exhibit is all about trains and their impact on society and painting. The coat dress seems to relate to modernity in my mind, but I can’t explain WHY.

The Netherlands

Queen Maxima continued her “More Music in Schools” program with a visit to the Queen Beatrix School. She went a little sassy with culottes and a frilled Massimo Dutti white blouse.
