The Facts
Like so many of the Romanov jewels, this tiara has a dramatic trajectory, which Royal Warren(t) described in depth in her post. The tiara features 25 large pearls, which hang from diamond arches. When the Dowager Duchess Maria Feodorovna fled Russia in 1917 and managed to escape to Crimea, she took only her “day” jewels, which did not include this tiara. Subsequently owned by Imelda Marcos, it holds the dubious honor of being confiscated by two governments after revolutions: Russian Bolsheviks and the Philippines. If at all possible, whose head would you like to see it on today? Who could do justice to such history and drama?
