Open Post – NATO Summit Madrid (Updated Day Four)

Hofdame Note: This is a political event, but we are a fashion blog, so please keep comments to sartorial matters this week! Thanks – you are all great, as always.

H/T to our Baguette Iselen for the schedule for this week’s NATO Summit. We’ll have this post open all week for updates!

Monday, June 27th

Queen Letizia will welcome Dr. Jill Biden, First Lady of USA, in Zarzuela, and later, they’ll visit the Spanish Association Against Cancer headquarters together.

And they are at the headquarters! I am a fan of these ensembles! We’ll have to wait until Iselen weighs in, but it’s said Letizia’s dress is possibly an adaptation from Jose Hidalgo’s flamenco-inspired collection. If you love polka dots and wedding dresses, you really need to scroll through that link.

Tuesday, June 28th

Queen Letizia and Dr. Jill Biden will visit the Reception, Attention, and Referral Center for Ukrainian refugees in Madrid. The King and Queen will host the official dinner for all the NATO summit guests in the Royal Palace.

Today is just – chef’s kiss. Peak Letizia and peak Dr. Biden. We’ll circle back with identification on the designers, but these two very different outfits suit their wearers and compliment each other. Queen Letizia sports the Royal Lady ponytail and it’s a perfect foil for that tailored suit (love the criss-cross blouse underneath). Dr. Biden is wearing a beautiful summer print explosion – again, it works! Letizia’s suit is by Carolina Herrera (it’s a repeat from 2018, but enough time has passed that it *seems* new). The blouse is by Hugo Boss.

For the dinner, the Queen wore a repeat of her dress from the 2021 Princess of Austurias Awards. She is wearing the gorgeous Joyas de Pasar earrings and one of the bracelets!

Wednesday, June 29th

Queen Letizia will take the spouses to visit the Royal Palace of La Granja and the Royal Factory of Glass and Crystal (the wonderful chandeliers of the Royal Palace in Madrid come from this factory founded in 1727) Later, they’ll go to the Queen Sofía National Museum Art Centre. The dress is mid-length dress from Laura Bernal, and is described as “vintage” and “of a lavender color.” I’m not sure of the color but the photos may be throwing me off – I do know for a fact that she is going all in on the polka dots. No complaints from me.

I think Dr. Biden is wearing her new Spanish-acquired footwear (with another floral dress).

Thursday, June 30th

Queen Letizia will take her guests to visit the Royal Theatre and will watch the rehearsals of the opera Nabuco.

Letizia was pictured early in the day with the Theater Director, wearing another stunning sleeveless dress by Carolina Herrera (H/T to Iselen for the identification). Fits like a dream, right?

The whole crew. I suspect they will remember their time in Spain fondly. Not to mention their endlessly chic tour guide.
