Open Post – COP26 Summit

Note: The COP26 is full of passion – as it should be – and also full of controversy. I have strong opinions on the topic, and I am sure Baguettes do too. However, we are sticking to our frivolous pursuit of fashion here, so let’s keep the discussion to clothes and appearances. There are lots of other platforms to discuss the very serious issues that are the reason for the summit. Thanks!

“It is a source of great pride to me that the leading role my husband played in encouraging people to protect our fragile planet, lives on through the work of our eldest son Charles and his eldest son William. I could not be more proud of them.”

Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth

Prince Charles, the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are all at the COP26 Summit. The Queen canceled her plans to attend and is instead resting at Windsor. She did send a video message, stressing the importance of ecological awareness and action.

Day Two

She wore her Diamond and Ruby Butterfly brooch, which is not often seen but appropriate for this message. The photo of Prince Philip in the background is a nice reminder of his commitment to environmental causes.

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall arrived in Glasgow, ready to promote one of Charles’ lifelong passions, protecting the environment. The Duchess wore a black cape that she wore A LOT in early 2019 and a deep green suit.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended their first event after arrival, the Scouts’ Promise to the Planet. The Duchess wore her Ganni jacket and a new Really Wild sweater in black, and repeated See by Chloé boots. The UfoNomore post has a breakdown of all her accessories. This is probably as close as we’ll ever see the Duchess in her preferred attire. She looks exceedingly at home. Do you think she would let me borrow her boots?

I don’t what this is, and even the parents-of-young-children Will and Kate seem puzzled.

For the reception hosted by Boris Johnson, the Duchess of Cambridge wore an Eponine London coat dress and the Duchess of Cornwall was in a teal dress. Both women wore enamel poppy pins
