Open Post – Dutch State Visit to Slovakia (Updated Day Three)

(Hofdame Note: The Jordanian wedding post has been updated with more photos from the henna party. In the comments I added some photos of royals we don’t see often!)

At the invitation of President Zuzana Caputova, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima are making a three-day State Visit to Slovakia. The royal couple will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the republic and discuss green development and biodiversity. They will spend the first two days in Bratislava and the final day in Tatra region. You can see details of their itinerary here.

Day One

The King and Queen were greeted with an official ceremony at the Presidential Palace. Maxima looked her absolute best in head to toe blue and I am not exaggerating – look at her! The sapphires are just perfection with this ensemble. Heads up Brooch Babes, check out the sparkling bit on her shoulder! President Čaputová also got into the brooch act. The dress and coat are by an unknown designer, and the velvet hat is by Philip Treacy (Royal Hats has her post up!).

Queen Maxima busts out tiaras whenever she can, even when visiting republics. For the State Dinner, she re-wore a favorite lacey Jan Taminiau (worn four times, including previous State Visits to Portugal and Ireland). It’s a perfect dress for the emerald parure, which she wore in Ireland, too.

Day Two

The King and Queen visited the National Gallery, where they discussed women’s emancipation and gender equality on International Women’s Day. I note that the Queen, in addition to her smart dress and Philip Treacy hat, wore a pair of lower heels. Are moving into a new shoe phase here?

Here’s some old school royaling for the modern age. Hat? Check. Hat pin? Check. Statement earrings? Check. Big ole brooch? Check and check and check.

In the evening, President Caputova and her partner Jura Rizman accompanied the royals to a concert o at the Slovakian National Theater. The Queen wore a repeated Claes Iversen (you probably remember THE BELT) in a sparkly beige. I think the President is overshadowing everyone here sartorially, though!

Day Three

The King and Queen visited the Church of St. George in Spisska Sobota, Slovakia. The Queen wore a new coat, shirt and trousers from Natan. I know these photos are not the best angle, so head to ModekoninginMaxima to see the ensemble in full.
