Well, this is exciting – an actual state visit! The first state visit to Sweden – the land of a thousand tiaras – in I don’t know how many months. We are technically on vacation today, but we couldn’t deprive you of the chance to talk about the German State Visit to Sweden as it happens, so here is your Open Post. We’ll circle back with Hofdame commentary and photos either later today or tomorrow. Enjoy!

Day One

I am taking a quick peek in during the late afternoon and I see people have already been dropping photos! German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Elke Buedenbender, his wife, were greeted at the airport by Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel. They met the Queen and King later at the palace. The Queen wore a Georg & Arend ensemble, which is a German brand. Victoria also wore a German brand, Andiata. The talented people behind UFOnomore have the further scoop that Victoria’s previously worn separates were modified into a dress.

The state dinner was a bit of Christmas in September but we’ll live with it because – tiaras! The gowns worn by the royals are both repeats, a Georg & Arend set (top and skirt) for Queen Silvia and a red Escada for Victoria.

We know you love close-ups! Here is Queen Silvia in the Nine Prong and the Bernadotte Emerald Parure. Rumor has it those are new earrings per our own Mrs. Diamond with the scoop (see the comments) and also the observant Royal Watcher over on Twitter.

The Crown Princess wore the Connaught Diamond tiara and the Diamond Rose Earrings.

Day Two

The Swedish royals their German guests attended a lunch hosted by the President of the Stockholm City Council, Cecilia Bring, and the Mayor of Stockholm, Anna Köning Jerlemy, at Stockholm City Hall. Again, the talented folks at UFOnomore have identified Crown Princess Victoria’s Dress as By Malina.

Later in the evening, there was a private concert hosted by the Germans, featuring Nils Landgren and his orchestra. There aren’t a lot of photos (hence the “private”) but Svensk Dam has a few. They identify Victoria’s dress as by Swedish Acne.

Day Three

The King, Queen, President, and First Lady visited the Esrange Space Center and then proceeded to tour an iron ore mine. These events are always good for some royal helmet action. The Queen continued with her homage to German designers, wearing a Georg & Arend pantsuit. Then Queen and King bid farewell to their visitors at Kiruna Airport.

Let us know what you think of it all!
