Their Majesties King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway have invited the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, and his daughter Laura Matarella for a two-day State Visit. Since the King remains hospitalized with an infection, Crown Prince Haakon will host the visit with Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette Marit.
- Day One: Official welcome at the Palace Square, laying of a wreath at Akershus, a Government luncheon, a visit to the National Museum, and a cruise on the Oslo fjord with a focus on green City development. The first day is concluded with a State Banquet at the Royal Palace.
- Day Two: Crown Prince Haakon hosts a university visit, talks on energy development, a luncheon and a concert in the Nidaros Cathedral.

First Lady Laura Mattarella, Crown Princess Mette-Marit, and Queen Sonja at the welcoming ceremony. Such color coordination between them! The Crown Princess is wearing a white Valentino dress under a gray Natan (yes!) cape, accessorized with a Dior scarf. It’s the Queen’s lovely print scarf that I am eyeing, however.
Queen Sonja changed into the royal lady pantsuit for a trip to the National Museum. It’s a Christian Dior jacket, and you know what they say, “you can’t go wrong with Dior.”
Do you remember the white Pucci gown (designed by Peter Dundas) that everyone swooned over about a decade ago? Well, MM heard the call and had it done up in black and paired it with the Amethyst Necklace tiara tonight. Auntie Astrid is walking in under her own steam – yeah! – and dripping in family orders – more yeah!
Sonja was resplendent in a repeated ball gown by Peter Dundas with an embellished bodice. Maybe she was matching it to Queen Josephine’s Diamond tiara? Oh, Queen Sonja, never change.
We will be back when official photos are avaialble.
