We young people are aware that the current situation is not easy, that the world has changed and continues to change, and that the best way to move forward is to maintain the enthusiasm to learn, to equip ourselves with a sense of responsibility and a capacity for effort; to learn from those who know, those who do what they do impeccably, often silently. Program of the visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain and Their Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias and the Infanta Sofia on the occasion of the 2022 Princess of Asturias Awards.
Thursday, October 27
- 7:30 p.m. – 30th Princess of Asturias Awards Concert. Presided over by Their Majesties the King and Queen, with the presence of Their Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia.
- Organized by the Princess of Asturias Foundation with the collaboration of the Cajastur Foundation, flamenco singer Carmen Linares and dancer María Pagés, 2022 Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts, will share the stage in the flamenco show “Carmen y María. Two paths and one look”.
Well, now, here’s a family not afraid of a bold color statement!
Queen Letizia’s dress is from Teresa Helbig, and her arms are courtesy of a heretofore unknown rock-climbing habit (H/T to Iselen for both the dress identification and the sporty tidbit).
Princess Leonor is wearing a bold royal lady trousersuit from Laura Bernal and I couldn’t be happier. It’s quite a statement for her! It appears the trousers are the ones she wore in London earlier this summer. Her shoes are by Carolina Herrera and there is a little royal share going on – she borrowed the clutch from her mother.
Infanta Sofia’s dress is from The Are.
Friday, October 28

- 11:20 a.m. – Recipients of the University of Oviedo End of Degree Awards 2021.
- 11:40 a.m. – Recipients of the Asturias Medals 2022.
- Princess of Asturias Awards Audience – Covadonga Hall of the Reconquista Hotel.
- 12:30 p.m. – Audience with Their Majesties the King and Queen, Their Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia with the presidents of the juries, patrons and Princess of Asturias Foundation Boards of Trustees and the 2022 Princess of Asturias Awards Laureates.
- 6:30 pm. 2022 Princess of Asturias Awards Presentation Ceremony, presided over by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, in the presence of Their Royal Highnesses the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofia.

The family gathered for the awards audiences in far more subdued colors. It’s a good way to step back and let the winners take center stage. The Queen is wearing a repeated Cherubina dress (famously worn to the Order of the Garter ceremony in 2019). The designer for that firm is based in Seville.
Princess Leonor is in Carolina Herrera and Infanta Sofía is wearing Hugo Boss and kitten heels from Lodi (H/T to Iselen for this information).
A smiling family! Princess Leonor has borrowed the diamond danglers from her mother’s jewel box. (See the comments for a photo of Queen Letizia wearing them).
Queen Sofia has also arrived, and brooch lovers should rejoice. Per Iselen, “the big gold brooch is from her favorite jeweler, Quirós. They have a store in Oviedo and use antique pieces or coins to make new jewels. She always wears this one to come to this awards because it depicts the Virgin of Covadonga, patroness of Asturias.”
There was a change of clothes for everyone for the actual ceremony. First off, the King, in a different suit and a blue tie for the evening.
Queen Letizia is in a Carolina Herrera-designed gown, from the 2018 collection, and a pair of low heeled shoes! the gown is black with white shoulder embellishments. She accessorized with beautiful diamond earrings.
All eyes were on Princess Leonor, of course. She wore a print Michael Kors, which has been altered to lower the hem. (Edited, the dress is beaded and sparkly. You can see it more clearly at UFONoMore). At this point, she is such an old pro at giving speeches – she looked very confident!
Princess Sofia went sparkly, with a dress that was like stars sprinkled across a dark sky. She wore her hair in a half high ponytail, which helped give her a fun but dutifully appropriate overall effect for the event.
Saturday, October 29
- 12:00 noon. – Visit of Their Majesties the King and Queen and HRH the Princess of Asturias and the Infanta Sofía to the parish of Cadavéu (Valdés), for the presentation of the Exemplary Town of Asturias 2022 Award.
- Speech by Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias.
- Speech by His Majesty the King.
The King, Queen, and Princess Leonor visited Cadavéu (Valdés) for the presentation of the Exemplary Town of Asturias 2022 Award. Infanta Sofia was not feeling well. This is a typically casual day, and everyone is dressed perfectly to greet people, bend over to talk to children, and pick up babies.
