Celebration at the Royal Theater

We had a lovely, lovely surprise this evening. The Danes, bless their hearts, are dedicated to cheering us up and have tiared up for an evening at the theater.

Daisy, looking typically dramatic, led the gathering in a moment of silence for Queen Elizabeth. The woman is now the only reigning female monarch, and she knows how to QUEEN. She wore her versatile Floral Aigrette tiara and we have our first Princess Margaret/Queen Ingrid bracelet sighting.

The Queen’s sisters looked typically elegant – Princess Benedikte is in the Berleberg Fringe and Queen Anne-Marie is wearing the Greek Olive Wreath rubies.

I love this gown of Silvia’s and I hope we find out the designer (Edited: Per UFONoMore it’s Georg & Arend). I also got my wish to see the Amethyst Necklace Tiara in action again.

I am pleased to announce there is no Big Bird this evening (also pleased to see my favorite King looking pretty good!). Queen Sonja was Sonja-ing in her usual bold color. I do love Queen Maud’s Pearl and Diamond tiara.

Princess Marie borrowed a gown from her mother (the family has good taste), and paired it with her Nuits Claire tiara.

Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary brought their two oldest children who, let’s face it, don’t seem very childlike here. Mary is wearing her Diamond, Ruby, and Spinel tiara and lots of beige ruffles in a repeated Lasse Spangenberg gown. One more Princess Margaret/Queen Ingrid bracelet in evidence.

Princess Isabella wore one of her mother’s favorite designers, Lasse Spangenberg.

A couple of tiaras that we don’t see often. It’s always a lovely surprise to see the Countess of Frederiksborg and the sparkly Alexandrine Diamond Drop tiara. Princess Marie-Chantal is wearing a Prada gown and her Miller Fringe tiara.

Princess Nina wore a flowing purple Valentino and what looks like the Greek Antique Corsage tiara.

The Queen’s nieces were all in attendance. Seeing Theordora in a tiara makes me really want to see her religious wedding, and soon. I spy two Princess Margaret/Queen Ingrid bracelets, too. Princess Theodora borrowed her sister’s tiara, and Alexia wore the Khedive of Egypt tiara. Princess Alexandra wore the Ahlefeldt Floral tiara and Princess Nathalie wore Queen Sophie’s Star & Pearl tiara.

We rarely see Countess Sussie!

Service of Thanksgiving

A Service of Thanksgiving was held at Copenhagen Cathedral (Cathedral Church of Our Lady) on Sunday morning.

You will not miss the Queen in this color. Her Daisy brooch is, of course, right there and I am sure her Princess Margaret/Queen Ingrid bracelet is under those sleeves.

Photos of the event are slowing trickling in. I am a little shocked at the Princess Josephine re-wear – I guess everyone is getting old enough to get in the game.

There are action shots in these photos of Frederik, Joachim, and their families at the service. The interior of the Cathedral is less ornate than other European churches, but I find it lovely. Perhaps one of our musical Hofdudes/Baguettes can identify the music. (H/T to Baguette msb, the hymn is “I Danmark var jeg født”.)

The Crown Prince family at the service. Mary is wearing her sapphire brooch, but I think it’s Christian’s suit that wins my sartorial awards for this outing. Isabella was with them at the service, but then left to attend a school outing before the luncheon.

Prince Joachim and his family represented well – Princess Marie continues her fabulous sartorial streak with this chic combination.

Let’s not forget the other Queens! Silvia did her usual jacket-over-dress combination in blue, and Sonja went with monochrome in white.

Princess Benedikte is a cool, long drink of water in this column of blue. Click through the slide show to see Queen Anne-Marie in her beige tones.

The cousins were all in attendance as well. My favorite here is Princess Nathalie, looking crisp in orange and white. Princess Alexandra’s fancy button embellishments get a nod, too.

Gala Dinner

Queen Margrethe, surprisingly, wore a repeat gown! This was first seen in an offical portrait released last year. For this big event, she added the Pearl Poire tiara, the Khedive of Egypt Parure and her Pearl Poire Brooch – a pearlpalooza!

I got my personal wish: an appearance of the Danish Ruby Parure with Mary’s hair down! I like the shortened necklace and stud earrings with this neckline. The gown is an altered Jesper Hovring. Remember the gold gown from the Belgian visit in 2017? It forms the basis of this gown. (H/T to Heaven at UFO NoMore for spotting this!)

Princess Marie wore a beautiful Rikke Gudnitz gown in the softest of yellow, and accessorized with the Princes Dagmar Floral tiara.

Queen Sonja the woman who loves yellow more than life itself wore – you guessed it! – a yellow gown with an embellished bodice. She paired it with the Norwegian Emeralds. Queen Silvia opted for a sleek light blue gown by Georg et Arend and the Nine Prong tiara. It’s Pronger time!

Princess Benedikte and Queen Anne Marie win awards for the most coordinated of the night in these shades of green. The sisters are wearing matching necklaces, given to them by their mother, Queen Ingrid. Anne-Marie has added the emerald drops. Bene is in the Berleberg Fringe and Anne-Marie is looking wonderful in the Greek Emerald Tiara.

And our surprise of this weekend – Sussie looking wonderful in Queen Alexandrine’s Fringe and a fabulous greek key choker. That is an interesting neckline, but it works for her.
