Pre-State Visit Activities
We have some photos of their departure from Spain and arrival in Sweden now. The King and Queen departed from Spain early in the day. Upon their arrival in Sweden, they attended a reception at the Spanish embassy and greeted a group of Spanish citizens living in Sweden.
Clothing Rollcall:
- Queen Letizia: Hugo Boss red jacket, Carolina Herrera cape (Hat Tip to Iselen in the comments!)
- King Felipe: Who cares? He looks great.

King Felipe has appointed Crown Princess Victoria Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic. Fredrik Wersäll, Andreas Norlén and Ann Linde also get the same words. Prince Daniel, Prince Carl Philip, and Princess Sofia received the Grand Cross of the Spanish Order of Civil Merit.

Day One – Daytime
King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia greeted the King and Queen of Spain during the official welcoming ceremony at the Royal Palace in Stockholm. The group proceeded in a cortege in horse-drawn carriages. King Felipe and King Carl Gustaf traveled together, while the Queens had their own carriage.
Clothing Rollcall:
- Queen Letizia: Carolina Herrera Cape, Handbag, and Dress. Cherubina Headdress. (Hat Tip to Nuria Tiburcio on Twitter, also thanks to Heaven on Twitter we know the dress is several seasons old, and that Renee Zellweger wore it back in 2014!)
- Queen Silvia: Raspberry Coat and Hat. Designers currently unknown.
The extended Swedish royal family joined them for lunch at the Palace. This is a good sign for the “scaled back” gala, to be held tonight.
Clothing Rollcall:
- Crown Princess Victoria: Andiata dress (new, hat tip to Heaven at UFONoMore)
- Princess Sofia: Ida Sjostedt dress (also new)
Queen Silvia went old school in the best way and wore an outside and an inside brooch. Queen.
Day One – Evening Gala
We are swooning like crazy in the comments, and thank heavens for the live stream and screen captures because official photos are very slow in loading. We’ll just say that this was one of the best state visits all around in the gown and tiara department. Ever. Everyone looked good. We’ll do a quick clothing and tiara rollcall while we wait for photos.
Gown Rollcall:
- Queen Silvia – Georg & Arend gold gown with embellished bolero.
- Queen Letizia – H&M Conscious Collection gown, the sleeveless version of a gown Crown Princess Victoria wore for her tenth anniversary photo shoot. Gorgeous, a Swedish brand, and a nod to one of her hosts. A trifecta.
- Crown Princess Victoria – Frida Jonsven wildflower also worn for the tenth wedding anniversary photos.
- Princess Sofia – Safiyaa Heliconia Drape Fishtail gown in White
Tiara Rollcall:
- Queen Silvia – Cameo tiara and bracelet, Cartier bracelet
- Queen Letizia – La Buena and Joyas de Pasar earrings and bracelets, fleur de lis brooch from the centrepiece of her Tiara Princesa

- Princess Sofia – Wedding Palmette tiara with pearl toppers, Nyx Princess earrings (new to us)
In the meantime, SvenskDAM has some lovely high-resolution photos up!

The two Queens attended a language seminar at the Bernadotte Library. This is a visit that is close to my heart and probably that of many Baguettes. The library is located inside the Royal Palace and contains a collection of about 100,000 royal books that have belonged to the kings and queens of the Bernadotte dynasty.
