The Spanish Pascua Militar (Military Easter) starts the official activities for the Spanish royal family’s 2023 calendar. The military ceremony and reception takes place on Epiphany, the 6th of January, in the Throne Room of the Royal Palace of Madrid.
Three years ago we did a retrospective – and vote – on some of Queen Letizia’s ensembles for this event. The dress code calls for daytime long gowns, the trickiest of dress codes. You can view it here. The live link for the event is below.

The King gave his speech and included a tribute to those who fought the fires that devastated the country over the past summer. He also spoke of how he values the professionalism of the Spanish military and acknowledged the fortieth anniversary of Spain’s entry into NATO. It looks to be a beautiful day there.
The Queen’s dress is a repeat Felipe Varela in a deep red. She accessorized with her ruby earrings. As you can see from the wide shot, this is royal coordinating with the event on a professional scale. The royal couple then moved into the reception, and the firm Spanish “shaking of hands” commences.
You know the drill – when the official photos come out we’ll add them to the post, but in the meantime, please add your photos and comments below!
