Pocket Profiles–Sheika Mozah

The Basics

Her Highness Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser was born 08 August 1959 and is the consort of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Emir of the State of Qatar. She is the mother of seven children, including the current Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Qatar is a tribal society and Sheikha Mozah’s tribe is al-Missned. Her father was an opponent of Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Thani, great-grandfather of the current emir. As a result, the family lived in exile in Egypt and Kuwait but returned for the Sheikha’s marriage in 1977 to the then heir apparent. She was 18, studying sociology at Qatar University. She became the second of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani’s three wives. (The Guardian)

Mozah took on the non-traditional role of being the public spouse and has been seen quite often at royal weddings and other state occasions.

Fashion

Now, let’s get down to it. This lady knows fashion. She manages to find a way to make haute couture blend with the culturally necessary modesty requirements. And she looks amazing. Even if the clothing may not be to one’s personal taste, there is no denying that Mozah presents a striking figure.

She often wears Valentino which makes complete sense when you realize that Qatar owns the fashion house.
