You know I love a wedding! Although not a mainline royal event, this one will have tiaras, gowns and lots of aristocratic and royal guests. We’ll leave this pop-up post up for 48 hours so you can all weigh in and indulge in a needed tiara-fix. I’m letting Iselen take the description from this point on — Suds
Background
The bride is Infanta Maria Francisca, Duchess of Coimbra, 26 years old, the daughter of the Duke of Braganza, Duarte Pio, who would be King Eduardo III of Portugal, if the country were. not a Republic. The groom is a lawyer and his name’s Duarte María de Sousa Araújo Martins, 30 years old. He is also also the grandson of a famous Portuguese architect and painter Joao de Sousa.
The couple were engaged in 2022. The bride is connected royally to many houses, so expect to see some familiar faces.
Maria Francisca is expected to wear the Queen Amelie’s tiara, which her mother, Isabel, the Duchess of Braganza, wore at her own wedding. You may remember the photo of Isabel with the orange blossom, an adornment which is traditionally worn by Portugese brides. The rumored dress designer is Luzia do Nascimento.

The beautiful bride wearing the tiara! Also, one of my favorite wedding dresses of all time.

Dates and Time
The wedding ceremony will be Saturday, October 7th, with a reception and an evening gala after the event. There will be a small reception for visiting guests on Friday, October 6th.
Wedding Broadcast: TVI Channel at 13:30 (Portuguese time zone)
