The always thoughtful JR on Twitter got me ruminating on royal relations with this tweet.
To me young Astrid and her cousin Tatiana were spitting images of each other https://t.co/Pp1CAtb2Z3 pic.twitter.com/tbBFilJIMl

I did not know that Queen Astrid and the Romanovs were second cousins. JR explains it.
Astrid's mother Ingeborg and Tatiana's father Tsar Nikolai were first cousins. They were very close and frequently wrote each other. Unfortunately their correspondence (together with most of her other correspondence) was destroyed after the death of Ingeborg.

Are they are any royals relations that surprise you? One day I realized that Pavlos of Greece (well, all the Greek children from his family) were first cousins of both Princes Felipe and Frederik and that stunned me.
Let us know your “well that was a surprise” moments!
