King Philippe, Queen Mathilde and Grand Duke Henri all attended the 75th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge at the Mémorial du Mardasson, in Bastogne. Other attendees included delegates from the countries involved and veterans of the battle. The Battle of the Bulge lasted for over a month and represented a turning point in World War II.
Mathilde wore a belted coat and matching hat in what looks like a burnt orange or a deep red, depending on the light. The entire ensemble is by Dior, per Modekoning in Mathilde. I think it’s a great color for a memorial service, and a nice change from the more somber blacks and navy. I also think Mathilde’s height helps with this style. There is a lot of detail, and a lot of monochrome, but it’s spread over a tall expanse and has room to breathe.
What do you think? Good color? Good style?
