Random Royaling – British East and South-East Asian Reception

The King and Queen hosted the annual British East and South-East Asian gathering at Buckingham Palace last night. The reception takes place shortly after the Lunar New Year, a time for feasting and honoring ancestors. The event celebrates Asian communities in the United Kingdom and includes guests from the Armed Forces, the Arts, Media, Fashion, Business, Government, Finance, Healthcare, Faith organizations and charities.

The Queen reached for one of her favorite designers, Anna Valentine, wearing a green velvet tunic top and palazzo pant ensemble. However, if there is ever an event where the guests sartorially outshine the hosts, it is this one. Attendees often wear traditional garments and headresses. I am not well versed enough to properly identify all the clothing below (other than the Korean hanbok), but I thought you would enjoy the visual splendor.

It was a family affair, and siblings Princess Anne and Prince Edward helped carry the load. I couldn’t quite determine what brooch Anne is sporting, but I found her ensemble rather snazzy.

The Gloucesters were also on hand. Birgitte wore one of her pearl chokers and a lovely printed dress.
