Random Royaling – Holyrood Week

The Queen is in the midst of her traditional visit to Scotland for Holyrood Week, and she has brought along some family members to lighten the load. She, however, is still the star of the show.

Below, the key to Stirling Castle, which will is on hold for the arrival of The Queen open the new Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum at Stirling Castle, Stirling.

The Queen arrived at Stirling wearing a purple/pink coat decorated with the Argyll and Sutherland HIghlanders badge. Continuity is the byword here. She has been the Royal Colonel of the Highlanders since her 21st birthday in 1947.

The monarch, accompanied by The Duke of Cambridge, paid a visit to the Irn-Bru manufacturing plant. The Queen wore the Pearl Trefoil brooch and a saturated blue Stewart Parvin coat. She switched up the brooch to the Royal Regiment of Scotland badge for the second stop of the day, the Ceremony of the Keys.

The Queen met with First Minister Nicola Sturgeon at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. I can’t see her brooch, but her patterned light blue dress achieved maximum visibility in a very serious and very dark room. We try to keep discussion of political figures to an absolute minimum here but I can’t help but covet Ms. Sturgeon’s shoes.

I was just thinking I needed some kilt action, it being summer and a royal visit to Scotland happening. Although I do miss the Duke of Edinburgh’s way with the kilt, the Queen’s youngest son has stepped up. Enjoy the Earl’s region-appropriate fashion stylings while you admire the Countess’s golf swing. The couple is pictured at the Forfar Golf Club, one of the duo’s series of engagements in Forfar and Angus. The Countess wore a floral midi dress and blazer.

Sophie and Ed dropped in at the St James Quarter shopping district, a commercial and residential area in East Edinburgh. The Countess wore a pink pleated silk Valentino midi skirt.

What are your thoughts about the visit? Fashion good?
