Random Royaling – Queen Maxima in the Côte d’Ivoire & Senegal

Ascot is on Day Two – put your contributions in the Open Post! And, yes, Queen Mathilde and Princess Elisabeth have been confirmed at Princess Ingrid Alexandra’s birthday gala on Friday – if you want to chat about that head over to Bits. LuckeyGirl has a tiara poll ready for us tomorrow.

The Dutch Queen is on a three-day trip to Côte d’Ivoire & Senegal in her role as the United Nations Secretary Generals Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance. Taking a business trip as a UN advocate means that her clothes and jewels won’t be at Queen-level, but Max being Max, she always gives us something to talk about.

She spent some time on Day One meeting with female entrepreneurs and visiting a Village Savings and Loan Association (VSLA). She went entirely comfortable and loose in a much-repeated outfit with a batwing shirt and printed skirt. Her Salvatore Ferragamo flats have been around since before her wedding!

She traded the outfit for a two-piece Alexis ensemble to take part in the Africa CEO Forum. The prints for this trip were probably chosen to harmonize with the traditional colorful pagne or kente sometimes worn in the Cote d’Ivoire.

She laced-it-up in yellow-green Natan to meet with the Vice-president of Côte d’Ivoire Tiemoko Meyliet Kone. The dress is a fancier choice for a meeting with government officials, but it’s the necklace and bracelet that draw the eye here. They were gifts from her hosts.
