Random Royaling – Royal Week in Scotland (Updated Day Four)

Royal week in Scotland is on, and the Queen is in the house. Let’s check it out!

Monday June 27, 2022

The annual Ceremony of the Keys was held Monday. This marks the start of the Queen’s week long residence at Holyrood Palace and the monarch is symbolically offered the keys to the city of Edinburgh by the Lord Provost. The Queen looks very fresh in blue. She is wearing her Highlanders Badge and Royal Royal Hat has her posts up – really interesting takes on how this hat was de-Ascotized for this event.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex and Forfar accompanied her. Sophie is wearing her Suzannah “Eudora” dress and her Jimmy Choo pumps.

Her Majesty attended the Armed Forces Act of Loyalty Parade in the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Her ensemble is by Angela Kelly, head-to-toe, and the brooch is the very-rarely-worn Purple Thistle Brooch.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex and Forfar visited Moray. Sophie repeated a Max Mara blazer over her Mos Mosh blouse and her Emilia Wickstead skirt. I know you wanted to see these Penelope Chilvers pumps again in another color. Here you go! Also, some kilt action on Ed.

Time for the Palace of Holyroodhouse Garden Party! The Duke of Rothesay, The Earl and Countess of Wessex and Forfar, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence joined thousands of their closest friends invited guests.

The Countess wore the Suzannah “Grecian” dress first seen from the waist up at Ascot, Day One. Polka Popp identified her hat as from Ascot 2004 so a way back royal re-wear was in effect.

Behave, everyone! Or Anne will have you locked in Section 5c of the never-ending royal closet.

At some point, the Countess of Wessex and Forfar found time to visit Capability Scot, an organization that provides support to citizens in need. Sophie is all in repeats: Gabriela Hearst pink suit, Sophie Habsburg pink straw ‘Bean Bag’, and Penelope Chilvers ‘Tango’ pumps in tan/ultraviolet (you are all getting a lot of chances to see your favorites!)

Meanwhile, the Queen was receiving visitors at Holyrood House, including Nicola Sturgeon who seems to have brought some “Blue Label” as a gift. I think I also spot the Pearl Trefoil brooch there among the flowers on the Queen.

The Duke of Rothesay and the Queen popped out onto the lanai to watch the Royal Company of Archers Reddendo Parade in the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Honestly, this Queen just loves Scotland. I just love this suit – the detail around the neck is very very good idea to draw attention to her face and her grin. It’s replicated on her sleeves and pockets. I don’t recognize this pair of brooches, so we’ll have to see if someone else comes up with it. (H/T to fellow Hofdame OC who thinks they are the smaller of the Nizam brooches)

Did I miss that she had gotten transitional lenses? You tell me.

The week is young, so we’ll be adding additional events here as the photos are available.
