Random Royaling – Scandinavian Royals at the Green Sustainable Cities Conference

Because the Scandinavian Royals simply can’t rest at all, Crown Princess Mary popped over to Oslo to meet up with Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. They attended the opening of a Conference on Green And Sustainable Cities at Oslo Town Hall, an initiative close to everyone’s heart these days.

Heaven has identified everything already, so I’ll let her do the talking here. I will add only that I covet that Prada dress of Mary’s, always have and always will. They’ll have their post up later at UFONoMore, and as always we encourage everyone to give them a visit.

Later in the evening we were treated to evening gowns (and Queen Sonja!), at the opening of Norway’s new National Museum in Oslo. The museum features an exhibition of Queen Sonja and Queen Maud’s dresses. Here’s a video of their arrival, their tour of the dresses, and what appears to be a dinner.

UFONoMore has the fascinating story of the design of Mette-Marit’s gown. It’s by Dundas. The fabric was woven by a Norwegian artisan Aurora Verksted, and is 100% Norwegian wool. MM visited the Dundas workshop in May 2021. They are a community of artisans with and without disabilities, who work in fabric, paper and ceramics. The project took 3 months!
