Random Royaling – Summer Dresses

We don’t do Random Royaling often anymore, so I am rubbing my hands together with glee over this opportunity. The Royal ladies have been wearing some good summer dresses, some new, some repeats-that-are-worth-repeating. Let’s check in and weigh in.

To those of us in North America Victoria’s dress is prairie-inspired, and to the Europeans it’s pure summer bohemian. Whatever you call it, it looks good on her. Summery and cool, it’s perfect for her birthday appearance. It’s from By Malina and, please, let’s see more by this designer. UFO No More, on the case as usual, has identified Estelle’s dress as by BonPoint.

Sofia (second photo in the slideshow above) is in an Andiata Sinn dress. Our own OC pointed out that the princess should bring this out for a Dutch visit. It’s a Delft China inspired dress if there ever was one.

Duchess of Cambridge

Yes, we talked about this one on Bits for a bit ; ), but it has so many elements that I think Catherine should repeat, it bears talking about again. The dress is by Emilia Wickstead, which somewhat amazes me. It just feels different from the designer’s others offerings. The Anatole polka dot shirtwaist dress features polka dots, of course, but it also has a collar that is open at the neckline (good), a perfectly sized belt (even gooder!) and a swishy, pleated skirt (goodest). The cause is also excellent. The Duchess appeared on behalf of BBC’s Tiny Happy People project.

Yes, it’s a repeat (from 2015). Yes, it’s Natan. Yes, I am reaching back to June for this appearance at a couple of technical companies. Yes, yes, yes, I believe she should embrace the royal lady ponytail the way her friend Letizia has. However, this dress is orange, it brightens up the rather serious visits and I couldn’t help myself.

Again, these are both repeats, worn last year, but perfect for the royal couple’s continuing summer tour around their country. The Adolfo Domínguez floral print is one of my favorite summer dresses worn by a royal ever. Letizia first wore it for the family photo call last summer. The halter dress is on its third appearance, and the designer remains unknown. Great photos are at the Queen Letizia Style blog.

Ah. Summertime! Let us know what you think.
