The Swedish royal family attended the traditional opening of Parliament on Tuesday, which included a service at Stockholm Cathedral. Every year it’s interesting to see how the black and white dress code will be interpreted. (Note – this should probably be referred to as a tradition and not a code. Thanks to Mrs. D.)
Victoria and Silvia went traditional: Victoria has worn this Milly Marzia bow jacket at least four times to this event and Sils is hanging with her standby pearls. Victoria did wear an interesting take on the black and white headgear.
Sofia, however, has busted out a burgundy and black combination that is a nice, albeit small, change-up, and tremendously flattering on her.
For those of you who like the cape action, Sils sported a lovely white number on her way between festivities.
If you missed Sofia in black and white, she returned to the theme during the evening concert. I just love her “Tiger of Sweden Desert” blazer, and velvet trousers.
There is great detail on both events at The Royals and I.
For anyone pining for a more regal style of dress, it’s a good time to revisit the post on the old, pre-1974, dress code, which the Order of Splendor described thoroughly back in the day.
