Have you ever considered how lucky we are to be alive while the Danes are so fashion ascendant? We have our Poppins Princess Mary, the sui generis Daisy, Fred and his scarves, and the ever elegant Benedikte. She wasn’t at yesterday’s event, but Marie brings her own fresh appeal, too. Bless them, bless them. May they go from strength to strength, folks.
Yesterday, the royal family attended the opening of Parliament. It’s a yearly tradition and one I am glad Covid didn’t derail.
First up, the Queen, at the center as she should be. I have to admit, it wasn’t my favorite Daisy, but it’s always good to see her. I am very relieved her hat has a brim, albeit a small one. The little dash of matching the hat ribbon to her skirt is appreciated. Speaking of hats, if you want the hat skinny on all this, as always head to Royal Hats.
Fredi! You seem in a good mood. No fancy scarves, just a suit. Still and all, good to be prince of the realm, right? In his case, “the” prince of the realm.
I will insert a little hofdame anecdote here. LiL and I were chatting about how we haven’t had haircuts in donkeys months, and we can now pull our hair back in ponytails. Without clips! However neither of us has reached the height of the sophistication Mary shows here, and we probably never will. Mary is wearing her repeated black blazer and pleated skirt, neither of which has ever been identified. I’m glad they caught a good shot of her brooch.
Drop your deepest curtsy. Benedikte is in the house and wearing purple. My heavens she looks fabulous. If you peruse Royal Hats, you’ll know Benedikte has changed up the ribbon on the hat (removing the old leopard print) for this occasion. I love this multi-weave coat, but it’s a lot of look and not one for the amateurs in the crowd. Of course our Classic Princess handles it, no problem.
Socially distant sister affection. That’s how you do it.
Does anyone know what brooch Mary is wearing? Also, what are your thoughts on all this? As happy as I am?
