Random Royaling – Victoria and Haakon in Kenya

Hofdame Note: As if if there wasn’t enough going on in this short week, there is a Swiss State Visit to Belgium starting today, with most of the activities scheduled for Thursday and Friday. I’m not sure how the royals will approach it, tiara-wise, since it is a visit from a republic. We’ll put up an Open Post tomorrow, which unfortunately we won’t be around to update as the Hofdames are heading out on Thanksgiving holiday. Please feel free to add your own comments and photos, though! Happy Thanksgiving to those in the U.S. who celebrate!

Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway are on a joint visit to Kenya. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is hosting two days of the visit. Haakon is the Goodwill Ambassador of the organization, and Victoria is an Advocate Emerita for the UN’s Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The remaining days will include a joint trade conference and separate bilateral programs.

On the first day, Victoria paid a solo visit to the Swedish Embassy in Nairobi to meet with the Ambassador. She donned her Ralph Lauren dress paired with a Malene Birger blazer. It’s a crisp look for sure.

In the evening, she returned to the embassy for an evening reception. She wore a floral By Malina dress and earrings that could be described as a “bold statement”.

The heirs met up on the second day to visit Adanian Labs, Kenya’s startup hub, in Nairobi. The Crown Princess stuck with By Malina for this event but, for earrings, grabbed some pearls instead of the daisies.

Lest you think royaling is one glamorous event after another, take a look at the two Crown heirs at the Kitengela Waste Management Entrepreneurship Hub. They both donned blue safety vests but Victoria’s H&M skirt peeked out underneath.

Not glamorous at all! (Worthy for sure).

Both royals appeared at a reception hosted by the UNDP at the Tribe Hotel. Victoria has leaned hard into By Malina for this trip, and this evening was no exception. This is the “Columbine” gown by that designer (H/T to UFONoMore). Heaven and the gang at UFONoMore have photos of all the clothes and accessories up!

It looks as if the Crown Princess was given a Masai Necklace to wear (or as a gift), and if one was given to Haakon, we do not have a photo of it. Here is some information on the necklace and its meaning.

Let us know what you think of the visit!
