Last night Crown Princess Mary presented the Carlsberg Foundation’s Research Awards at the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen. She wore a dress that should ping some memories around here, although it’s been changed a bit – this is Mary after all. You can see photos and a video of the dress (and Mary!) in motion at Billed Bladet.

Yes, this elegant little cocktail number was a full-blown tiara event dress, worn first to Princess Madeleine’s wedding in 2013. The gown is a French cotton lace number by Collette Dinnigan. It was originally a short sleeve gown, so it looks like shortening it was the extent of the redo. However, the effect is very different. The whole thing is lightened up and gives her a chance to show off her snazzy Malone Souliers shoes. Head over to UFONoMore for a breakdown of the ensemble in its entirety.
The original outing was interesting since Mary paired the gown with a sheer cape. (Was it cold in Stockholm that day or was she concerned about the nude lining? We’ll never know.) She also chose the Midnight Tiara, which is not everyone’s cuppa – but it’s Mary and to me it works.
