Royal Shares and Re-Wears – Princess Märtha Louise

November 12, 2021November 13, 2021 The Handbag

Housekeeping – We continue to update the Danish State Visit post, so do check back for Daisy’s latest very coordinated ensembles. Also, there will be an Open Post Saturday, November 13, for those who wish to discuss the Festival of Remembrance performance and Remembrance Sunday ceremonies.

It’s Friday Fun Day at the Bag again! Last week, Queen Letizia squeaked out a win over the Duchess of Cambridge in the royal wedding gown train runoff. With that sorted, we are turning our attention away from weddings for a couple of weeks, and delving into a new series.

By popular demand, behold the Royal Re-Wear game! Our first entry should be fresh in your mind since it is hot off the presses just this week.

We don’t have a designer ID on this off-the-shoulder lilac gown, but it’s obviously a favorite in Princess Märtha Louise’s closet. It’s so nice she wore it twice (at least). The gown has a light applique (or embroidery – my eyes are not strong enough to tell) detail that runs from the neckline to the hem, folded cap sleeves, and a short but eye-catching train. Let’s compare the two outings.

2021 Dutch State Visit to Norway

During this week’s state visit from the Netherlands, the Princess paired the gown with the Norwegian Amethyst Necklace Tiara. She is also wearing the Netherlands The Knight Grand Cross Order of the Crown. To make this a triple re-wear threat, she finished off the ensemble with chunky earrings and a heart necklace borrowed from her mother, who has worn them throughout the nineties and early aughts (thanks to Baguette Sars for that information).

2013 Wedding of Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill

In 2013 Märtha Louise wore the dress with the smaller version of Queen Maud’s Pearl and Diamond Tiara, piling her hair up behind to give a little depth to the styling. Since this was a Swedish wedding, she added the Swedish Order of the Polar Star sash.

Bonus Royal Share

Since this is the first in the series, we are doing a twofer. Here is a royal share, also worn by Märtha Louise this week. This Rena Lange red suit was worn by her mother in 2011. Märtha Louise added an oyster bandeau bow headpiece -thanks to Royal Hats for that description!

In the spirit of not pitting family members against each other, we’ll take a different approach on this poll. Thank you again to the amazing folks at UFONoMore, who are so on the ball with these identifications.
