Royal Shares and Rewears – Princess Marie in Ole Yde

Last week, Baguettes decided that the Jesper Høvring dress worn by Crown Princess Mary was almost equally good worn at the 2014 Bambi Awards as it was at the 2016 New Year’s Receptions. The tiniest edge – and I mean tiny, one vote only! – went to 2016.

So, now, for the UGH part of the post. The Danish New Year’s Receptions have been canceled for January 2022. As we have learned over the past 22 months, things can change quickly but as of right now that’s where we stand. Let’s think positively about the other events throughout 2022.

Speaking of positivity, here are a couple of fairytale appearances by another very beautiful Danish royal.

2013 Princess Madeleine’s Wedding

One has to love Swedish weddings because so many royals debut new gowns. Princess Marie chose a light pink Ole Yde gown for the occasion. It had a fitted bodice that extended to the upper thigh before flaring into a fuller skirt. The neckline was sheer, and there were light embellishments throughout. Her lack of tiara options is much remarked upon, and so it was no surprise she wore her Diamond Floral Tiara. She wore the Order of the Elephant and a pair of silver Christine Hvelplund drop earrings.

2015 New Year’s Levee

Princess Marie is the least likely of the Danish women to rewear a gown to the New Year’s events, but it has happened on a couple of occasions. For the 2015 New Year’s Reception, she repeated the Old Yde gown and paired it with her floral tiara and the requisite Order of the Elephant chain.

Her hair and tiara remain the same, so the outing you prefer will probably come down to whether the gown works with the heavy order chain. I’m not sure myself. What do you think?
