Open Post – St. Patrick’s Day Parade with The Irish Guards

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? After a two year gap, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are back to handing out shamrocks, petting pooches, and enjoying a “wee nip”.

Let’s look at some past parades to get in the mood.

There will be one difference of note to this year’s parade. Irish Guards mascot Domhnall retired in late 2019, and was replaced by Turlough Mór (pronounced “Tur-Lock more”), to be known as as Séamus around the barracks. He is named after King Turlough Mór of Connaught, who ruled as High King of Ireland from 1136 to 1156.

A very warm Handbag welcome to Séamus!
