Koningsdag 2019

It’s time for the annual Koningsdag (King’s Day) celebrations…let’s take a quick look at the events in Amersfoort.

I am LOVING A2 (aka Max Junior)’s outfit…down to her black booties. Wax looks just as proud of his lady pack as usual.

I’m particularly interested in Laurentien’s outfit and thanks to the good work over at ModekoninginMaxima we’ve got more information. I think she looks great, appropriate for the event, and perfect for springtime.

There are always lots of fun elements during these celebrations and I want to meet the person who thought of this bit.

This little lady seems thrilled to meet her Queen and I just couldn’t resist including this photo in our post, despite the fact someone is wearing a flour sack.

Lots of photos on Twitter including this couple who got quite a few fun photos with the royals!

What do you think about all of the Koningsdag celebrations?

Post update! Royal Photos by Gert-Jan de Wit has graciously furnished us with some beautiful close up photography! Thanks very much!

The Look(s) of Laurentien

Sister-in-law to the Dutch King Willem-Alexander, Princess Laurentien often has a choice outfit for discussion. Every now and then we’ll take a look at a few things in her closet just for fun.

Let’s start with a positive. This day dress is a cute look for the 100th anniversary of the Amsterdam Public Library earlier this month. She does a lot of literacy work and it’s great to see her out with kids.

And then something like this happens. (Yeah, totally out of chronological order.) Horrific jumpsuit worn to the Global Child Forum in 2018.

Hey there, Victoria in a snazzy pink suit. I see you.

Prinsjesdag 2015 was one of her better looks, in my opinion. I can see how this would easily divide opinions, but your pal OC does not consider orders when judging a look. Those colors/widths are non-negotiable and so I look past them. I think the dress is very flattering to her, and I shall also ignore the silly hat.

ANNNNNND then there’s this from Koningsdag 2006. Sure, the lady is well into a pregnancy here, but wowza this is rough.

One of her finest appearances in recent times was at the farewell dinner hosted by Queen Beatrix at the Rijksmuseum April 29, 2013. A lovely dress + historic family jewels is always a winner in my book.

Say what you will, the lady always provides great material for discussion.
