Today we’ll continue with our series on the Haga Princesses. If you haven’t seen it already, you can read our first feature on Princess Margaretha, Mrs. Ambler here. Our second feature will cover the second eldest daughter of Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten and his wife Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, Birgitta Ingeborg Alice. Like her sister Margaretha, Birgitta was never in line for the throne as the Swedish tradition at the time was male primogeniture.
Birgitta does not take on official duties on behalf of the royal family, but has appeared occasionally for family events and occasional traditional duties.
Among her sisters, Birgitta is the only one to marry a man of princely status, Prince Johann Georg of Hohenzollern. In keeping with the tradition that princesses who marry princes retain their royal status, Princess Birgitta retained her Swedish style of Royal Highness. They had three children and remained married until Johann Georg’s death in 2016. The Princess is very involved with the sport of golf and hosts a tournament on her home course on Mallorca, Spain.
I think the lady often sports a very tropical vibe to her clothing due to her home location. She’s also varied her hair a bit over the years.

A lady still needs to wear some tiaras now and then. Yes, that is the Leuchtenberg Sapphire tiara in the fuzzy photo on the left!
