It’s that time again! March 15th and 16th were the dates for NLDOET 2019. This is the time of year when the people of The Netherlands (Royal Family included, naturally) get their volunteer on. For any newcomers, this is the largest national volunteer campaign in the country, organized annually by the Oranje Fonds.
As usual, the King, as well as Oma Bea, Prince Constantijn, and Princess Margriet’s son Prince Bernhard and his wife Princess Annette, all did their part. Máx was unable to participate this year due to minor surgery, but I’m sure she was there in spirit.
Oma, Constantijn, Bernhard, and Annette spent their day sorting and cleaning musical instruments at the Leerende Instrument Orchestra Foundation in Huizen.

A short video if you’re so inclined.
While they were busy shining up the brass, WAX was busy helping with the design of a fairytale garden for the wee ones at the De Veenweide petting zoo in Soest. He looks to be an expert wheelbarrow driver, as well as post-setter.

I’m sure Triple-A will correct me if I’m wrong, but I think this event has been in existence at least since WAX and MAX were married, since the Oranje Fonds , which is a sort of trust fund, was given to them by the people of The Netherlands as a wedding gift. Whatever the origin, I think this is such a worthy event, and it’s something I look forward to seeing each year.
