Random Royaling – Wales Attend St. David’s Day Parade

Hofdame Note: We will catch up with the Crown Prince and Princess of Norway in London tomorrow!

It is the first St. David’s Day for the new Prince and Princess of Wales. They paid a visit to the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards at Combermere Barracks for the St David’s Day Parade. Such a grand debut calls for an unexpected Random Royaling post.

It is Prince William’s first year as Colonel of the Welsh Guards. He presented leeks to the officers and guardsmen to commemorate the event. The Prince is wearing the uniform of the Guards, including the distinctive leek on the cap.

Now here is a royal appearance that should soothe the souls of the Baguette Brigade, with a nod to our Brooch Babes. The Princess is wearing a twin of Queen Elizabeth’s Leek brooch/badge (although whether it is the same badge or a new has not yet been confirmed by the palace) for the event, which gave me a pang for a minute. Her hat is by Jules Millinery and her coat is unsurprisingly by Alexander McQueen. Quite an elegant updo, too!

The brooches are shown below. Judge for yourself whether it’s a shared situation or different broches on each woman!
