Open Post – Indian State Visit to the Netherlands (Updated Day 2)

At the invitation of His Majesty the King, the President of the Republic of India, Ram Nath Kovind, will be paying a state visit to the Netherlands from Tuesday 5 April to Thursday 7 April 2022. He will be accompanied by his wife, Savita Kovind. In 2019 the King and Queen Máxima paid a state visit to India. The Indian president’s upcoming trip to the Netherlands reaffirms the strong bilateral ties between the Netherlands and India. The visit will be a highlight of this year’s commemoration of 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries….

Day One – Welcome Ceremony

The weather was gloomy, but the Dutch rolled out the red carpet for their Indian guests. The King, Queen, Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, and his wife Savita Kovind reviewed a guard of honor during the welcoming ceremony on Dam Square.

Next, a reception will be held in the Royal Palace Amsterdam with Dutch Indian representatives. Afterward, the President of India will lay a wreath at the National Monument on Dam Square, created in memory of the Dutch citizens who died during the Second World War.

H/T to our friend of the blog, Triple-A, for providing these wonderful photos!

The Queen wore a gray coat, brimmed hat (with pearl hatpin!) over a repeated Victoria Beckham purple dress. Her diamond earrings are from her personal collection, and she is also wearing a floral brooch at the waist.

Day One – State Dinner

The Queen wore a repeated (from 2018 Prinsjesdag) Luisa Beccaria gown and the Dutch Aquamarine Tiara. That tiara has never been a huge favorite around here, but I love the briolette cut aquamarines myself. The Queen added the brooch and earrings from the parure as well. Savita Kovind’s sari is all kinds of spectacular.

Princess Beatrix Oma was also there, wearing the Antique Pearl Tiara.

Of course, this all took place in a tremendously beautiful environment.

Day Two – Dance Performance and Farewell

The Indian couple spent day two with government representatives during the day. In the evening, Max and Wax met up with them again to watch a dance performance and bid farewell.

Queen Maxima wore her red Natan trouser suit with her Ruby Daisy earrings, which made a surprisingly great showing in our recent ruby earring poll. Fabulously beautiful embroidery on Swati Kovind, daughter of the Indian president.

And like that, it’s all over!
