Random Royaling – Christmas Cheer

The season for the release of Christmas videos and photos is upon us. Camilla hosted her annual Christmas tree decorating party to support the Roald Dahl Charity and the Helen and Douglas House. The Danish princely couple also released their yearly family video, and Daisy and her elves/gnomes have been busy. The Swedes are celebrating Lucia Day with Estelle and Oscar sass, as they do every year.

We chat a lot around here about how good Kate is with kids, how Harry charms the young ones, and how even the Monacos light up around babies. Sometimes, though, you just need Camilla in grandma mode. She was utterly, utterly charming while hosting the annual Christmas tree decoration party. My cold avocado pit of a heart melted into a puddle of tears watching her serve some of the kids at the table, and at the guard using his sword to add an ornament to a high branch. The entire video is enchanting. No word on the provenance of Camilla’s dress, but the red was festive and flattering and that is all that counts.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Clarence House… 🎄❄️ . Today, The Duchess of Cornwall invited children supported by @helenanddouglashouse and @roalddahlcharity to decorate the Christmas tree. Helen & Douglas House care for terminally ill children and their families in Oxfordshire and surrounding counties through medical, emotional and practical support. Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity supports a network of more than 70 Roald Dahl Specialist Nurses across the UK, who provide expert help and support to children suffering from chronic and underfunded conditions. Her Royal Highness is Patron of both charities. Alongside The Duchess, the children were surprised by special guest Captain Ross of the Welsh Guards, who helped them to decorate the tree. 💂🏼 . After serving up guests with a lunch of sausages and mash, Her Royal Highness said: “I want to thank all of you – the parents, the nurses, the carers and most of all these wonderful children. I know sometimes it is probably not easy, but to see [the children] all here today looking so happy is a real treat for me.” . 📸 Clarence House

Danish Newsflash: Prince Christian is now an adult. I do believe he is officially taller than his mom and probably going eye to eye with dad. All the kids look great, of course, and we get a peek at the family putting ornaments on the lovely Danish Christmas tree.

Oh Daisy. I can’t read Danish and I can’t pretend to know what these gnomes or elves are really up to, but the whimsy and imagination that you bring to this yearly tradition cannot be denied. 📸 Keld Navntoft, Kongehuset©️
